Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: SPOILERS AHEAD

If you haven’t seen the movie, stop reading here unless you want to be disappointed.

So I saw Indiana Jones tonight and was quite disappointed. A short list of things that disappointed me:

1. No Nazis. How can you have Indiana Jones without Nazis!?!?
2. Aliens. WTF, George Lucas. This isn’t Star Wars.
3. Shia Lebeouf (sp?). I admit he is becoming a better actor as he gets older, but he still isn’t cut out for a big-time film in a huge franchise.
4. Marraige. Indiana Jones doesn’t get married.
5. Historical inaccuracy. I grant that it’s a movie and they have to change some things, but really.
6. Bad accents. Cate Blanchett’s was off quite a bit (listen to how she says ‘Dr. Jones’ relative to the rest of her speech, for example).

Now a list of things that were good:

1. Music. I 2. Special effects. However, I always have high standards for anything done by Industrial Light and Magic (George Lucas’ company).
3. Harrison Ford. Even though he’s clearly too old to be doing action movies anymore, he put forth a good effort and I think he did pretty well.
4. Cate Blanchett. Though she was a bit cheesy at times and her accent faltered on pretty much every other sentence, she pulled off the villain character quite well.

Overall, I give this movie a 5/10. It was visually impressive, but the story was far too cheesy to give any merit to. I’m fairly certain, however, that this is the last Indiana Jones movie (until they start remaking them in 20 years).

On a side note, I noticed that John Williams is also making the music for another Jurassic Park movie. Really. I love Jurassic Park and all, but the movies really started declining in awesomeness during the third installment. Does there really need to be another one?
