NACURH 08 @ OSU Day 3

So today was the ‘busy day’ of NACURH. We got up this morning to find that the line for breakfast was 600 people long, so Tori and I snuck in and grabbed some juice while running to present our NACURH U programs.

I presented in all three sessions of NACURH U, and it went pretty smoothly.  The buildings weren’t unlocked until midway through the first session. That was OK because Maria and I just presented outside, which was fun.

After NACURH U we had regional breakout, which was just announcements for the rest of the day. Then we had lunch and went to the NCC meeting, where we went over the agenda for corporate.

After that was my favorite part of NACURH: Program of the Year (POY) presentations. The presenters were Northeastern University with “The Great Husky Hunt” (a scavenger hunt/community service) and San Jose State University with “Break the Silence” (a week of GLBTA-focused programming culminating in the Day of Silence). Both presentations were great, and unlike last year I have no idea who’s going to win it.

After POY we had early dinner before coming back to the RBD housing for a break. Then we headed to the regional social.

At the regional social, we did host acknowledgements, conference pins, NACURH U certificates (I got three), National OTM winners, Silver pins, swearing in of the ‘new’ RBD, and Daryl’s closing speech.

After the social a few RBD members and I made a quick appearance at the NBD/RBD/NRHH/NCC/PCC social before hitting the hospitality room. Now I’m back here and about ready to call it a night.

It seems like we don’t do a whole lot of activity during conference, but they’re very wearing. I can’t remember a conference where I wasn’t exhausted by 10 PM. Luckily, I’m doing well with keeping hydrated, and not too badly on getting sleep.

Sleep totals: 17 (from the past three days) + 7 (last night) = 24 for four nights. That’s an average of six per night! However, I won’t be getting much tomorrow night because I have to catch a shuttle to the airport with Sam and the UMTC delegation at 3:30 AM. I’m thinking maybe four hours at the most.

Anyway, that’s all for tonight.

Coming up tomorrow: Program sessions (I get to go to two!), closing banquet, national awards ceremony, packing, heading out.
