Brett, this needs to stop. You’re being a whiny bitch. And on my mortal enemy Fox News, no less.
However, I can forgive the Fox part because Greta is from Green Bay. But the whiny bitch part I can’t forgive.
I saw Kung Fu Panda today. It was entertaining, but really, all of the Dreamworks/Pixar/whatever films are fairly entertaining.
Music: Generic “asian” music. I liked the violin though.
Acting: There were several big-name actors in the film, including Jack Black (Po), Angelina Jolie (Tigress), Dustin Hoffman (Shifu), Jackie Chan (Monkey), Lucy Liu (Viper), and others. They did well. It’s an animated film so it’s harder to judge the acting since its…uh…you know…animated.
Story: Reminded me a lot of “Mulan”. Outcast goes on to defeat the seemingly unbeatable enemy. And hey! Mulan was in China too! O.M.G.
Overall, it was pretty good. I was entertained, which is more than I can say for films like the latest “Indiana Jones” flick. This movie gets an 8/10.
So if I had to describe the new Angelina Jolie movie “Wanted” in one word, it would be ‘badass’.
Let’s break it down.
Plot: While some of the foreshadowing was blatantly obvious, overall the plot moved at a good pace. There were a few twists written in, and I guessed a few of them (here’s a hint: one of them is very ‘Star Wars’), but generally the plot was good. I give it a B.
Music: I didn’t listen closely to a lot of it because I was busy being blown away by the special effects, but what I remember was a lot of metally-type stuff. Pretty much your basic action movie sountrack. I give it a B-.
Special Effects: The SFX in the movie were outstanding. There were a lot of people getting shot in the head, which was graphic, but nicely done. There were also several chase scenes (a requirement for any action movie) that had things that I’ve never seen in this type of film before. For SFX I give the movie an A+.
Acting: Angelina Jolie stole the show, like she often does. It’s OK though, even though she was the supporting actress. The movie wouldn’t have been as good without her. The main character was played by James McAvoy, who in my opinion is a pretty hot-lookin’ dude, especially in the end when he’s shirtless and you can see how ripped he is (sorry about that tangent there, but if you like hot guys you understand how important it was for me to say that). And of course there was Morgan Freeman, who’s one of my favorite actors. This was a change of pace for him, as I can’t remember seeing him as the “good guy/bad guy” in the past. Also, this is one of the first times I’ve seen him swear in a movie. Overall, acting gets an A.
Overall, for a graphic novel adaptation, this movie was outstanding. The only points I’m docking are for the few times when the plot was predictable or the foreshadowing really obvious.
“Wanted” gets a 9/10 in my book.
I have now officially deleted my del.icio.us account and moved the interesting links over to here.
That should explain why I’ve posted so much in the past 30 minutes. :)
